When I got started
as a promoter, I was putting on seminars. There was a strategy
that I used on a regular basis to put 50 to 100 people in a
seminar room in less than 3 days just by sending out a few
emails.
When doing this, I discovered the power of Joint Ventures. I
would go out and find people or companies that had huge mailing
lists. That doesn’t mean cold calling a bunch of people. I
developed business relationships and friendships with them.
These relationships were and are so valuable because they became
my joint venture partners.
Then, I’d ask them to send out emails to their lists selling my
event. That way they would pass on their credibility with the
list to me and their list to make my event occur. But then
something happened that changed things for me.
I was promoting an event and several joint venture partners had
committed to making it happen. But all of the list-owners
ended-up realizing that they had another email message that they
needed to send to their list at that same time. They had another
promotion. They just couldn’t get my email out. They had to put
their businesses first. And my event just didn’t happen. That
was when I realized that you have got to have your own insurance
policy. What I mean by that is, it’s all about having your own
list.
Because your list is your goldmine!
So the lesson is that joint ventures are an incredible way to
make money and build your lists but you never have control. That
leaves your destiny in the hands of other people.
I can teach you how to get that control. Not only, having that
control, but having the power to send out emails and make money
whatever you want. The power belongs to the one who controls the
list. Some like to say that your money is in your list.
I’ve spent a good amount of time behind the scenes as a
promoter. That’s why online they call me the Powerful Promoter
because of the good ol’ days I just told you about. But I’m not
only a promoter, I’m also a marketer. I love sitting on my butt
and making money.
